Now in B Corp month, we wanted to share some of our stakeholder stories.
Our Suppliers
Our success depends on everyone involved in the creation of our products. For us, our supplier partners are an extension of our team. We work hard to develop long-term partnerships with them.
Our Standard Operating Procedures and Social Accountability Standards are best in class and based on the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights and International Labor Organization conventions (SA8000 Standard). Our rigorous onboarding practices include self-assessments, onsite visits and third-party auditing. Through these practices, we aim to support the efforts of our partners on their own journey. We are striving for continuous improvement to standards for safe and fair working conditions and for the reduction of our impact.
Playing the long game
Our average tenure with our top 8 supply chain partners is now 14.6 years. And while we know there is still some way to go, last year, 91.6% of our business was placed directly with strategic supply partners who commit to transparent, accredited 3rd party audits measuring social and/or environmental performance. Our partners have made some phenomenal progress:
- 100% of our top 10 partners report on water and resource usage
- 7 of our top 10 partners are SEDEX audited (6 with 4 pillar)
- We have 100% transparency at first tier manufacturing level
- We have 100% transparency for chain of custody and certification of all sustainable material
One of our suppliers has worked with MaCher for over 25 years and says we introduced him to the need for social accountability, sustainability and environmental performance standards. Jimmy, the founder, said, “we are really grateful to MaCher for their confidence and support. I feel we have developed a long-lasting partnership through the advice, solutions and transparent and communication”. He says that it was once they began to understand our approach, that they revisited and improved their own internal policies including employee welfare and their own sustainability sourcing.
